Opi-Gone: Synthetic Protein Design for Opioid Addiction
Opioid addiction affects millions worldwide, leading to 120,000 deaths annually. Yet there are currently no therapeutics available that treat or prevent opioid addiction in its early stages.
To address this, I independently designed Opi-Gone, a novel synthetic protein theoretically capable of preventing opioid addiction by restoring neurotransmitter balance in the brain. It utilizes a unique two-state design, allowing specific and selective binding without off-target effects.
With Opi-Gone, I hope to usher in an era of safe, smart therapeutics for opioid addiction and many other neurological disorders.
