My research on Opi-Gone taught me that addiction isn’t simply a moral issue or a lack of one’s willpower; it’s a process that affects the biochemistry of all our brains the same way.
Inspired by this realization, I started the Synapse Initiative to reduce the stigma surrounding addiction and convert it into support. Synapse also aims to distribute life-saving overdose prevention resources like naloxone to the areas that need them the most.
Synapse shares an official partnership with the Colorado Department for Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) and the Orthopedic Centers of Colorado (OCC). We have secured 243 naloxone kits so far.
